For the second straight week in a row, ‘Superman’ sold the most tickets at the box office over the weekend. The new Man of Steel flick crossed the $200 million mark domestically last Saturday and over $400 million worldwide on Sunday.
The reboot of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and the latest ‘Smurfs’ movie were no match for the high-flying superhero. Meanwhile, ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ continues to thrill moviegoers. After about three weeks, the sci-fi actioner has earned $276,485,990 and is still going strong.
Nevertheless, ‘Superman’ is the dominating force in theaters. It trounced the competition over the weekend to hold onto the number one spot at the box office with a tally of $58,450,094. It was followed by ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ with $23,701,750. Far behind in third, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ at $12,755,359, the ‘Smurfs’ movie in fourth with $11,075,090, and rounding out the top five, ‘F1:The Movie’ with $9,877,061.
‘Superman’ is expected to get a serious challenge for the top spot this coming weekend from the debut of Marvel Studios ‘The Fantastic Four: First Step.’
