Burbank’s new city clerk and city treasurer are on the job after being sworn into office during last Tuesday’s city council meeting by Deputy City Clerk Susan Domen. City Clerk Zizette Mullins and City Treasurer Debbie Kukta were appointed by the city council during a special meeting last month. Mullins and Kukta will “… serve the final ten months of their position’s four year term,” according to a press release from the city.

The highly unusual double appointments were necessary after City Clerk Margarita Campos and City Treasurer Donna Anderson suddenly retired. It will be interesting to see if Mullins and Kukta decide to seek election to their new positions next year.

Mullins is a member of the Burbank Civil Service Board and most recently, the community relations coordinator for Glendale. Kukta is a certified public accountant who served seven years on the Burbank Board of Education.
