“The Devil Wears Prada 2” wasted no time in racking up the big bucks at the box office. The sequel to the 2006 hit brought in $77 million at the domestic box office on its opening weekend. Globally, the film earned $233 million along with good reviews from critics and moviegoers. In this installment, Miranda Priestly, the ruthless and powerful editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine battles her former-assistant-turned-executive Emily Charlton in the evolving fashion media world. Meryl Streep plays Priestly, Emily Blunt is Charlton, and Andy Sachs, a former assistant-now journalist who returns to the magazine as an editor, is portrayed by Anne Hathaway.
In second place at the domestic box office, the biopix, “Michael” with $54 million and $430 million worldwide, in just two weeks.
The mega-hit “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” landed in third with $12.1 million. After a little over a month in theaters, the animation has hit $898 million worldwide. Next, in fourth “Project Hail Mary” with $8.5 million. And rounding out the top five, “Hokum,”, a new horror flick, with $6.4 million.
