An elderly Australian woman who began blogging in February of 2007 and gained an international audience died on Saturday, according to a news story on Reuters today. Olive Riley lived about 50 miles north of Sydney. Riley blogged about living through two world wars, raising three children on her own, and working as a station cook in the outback.

The Aussie blogger won worldwide recognition for her blog, The Life of Riley, and even had a series of videos of her talking and singing appear on YouTube.

Riley had a friend post her blog entries on her site http://www.allaboutolive.com.au  I couldn’t get to the site today — apparently a lot of people are trying to read Riley’s blog thoughts.

Another friend created a temporary blog for Riley. She posted her 74th and last entry there on June 26. You can read it at http://worldsoldestblogger.blogspot.com

Riley was in poor health and recently entered a nursing home. Born in 1899, she would have been 109 in October. She was considered the world’s oldest blogger.

I started blogging the same month and year as Riley. Hopefully, if I live nearly as long as Riley — I still will be blogging in my later years.
