We lost an hour of sleep last night. America’s founding father, Ben Franklin, can be blamed for that. Franklin was apparently the first to advocate the switch believing it encourages us to rise earlier and get more done during the day. It wasn’t until 1918 that a federal law setting Daylight Saving Time was enacted — for states wanting to make the switch.
This year, the change officially occurred at 2 a.m. this morning. So you should have moved your clocks ahead by one hour last night or this morning. Daylight Saving Time remains in effect until Sunday, November 4 — when we “fall back” to Standard Time.
