Travel/Summer Scams—

Looking for a deal this summer, be careful, scammers are out to trick you out of your hard-earned money. While searching online for hotel and airfare discounts, keep an eye out for fake offers. “Scammers sometimes use paid ads and put their number alongside a well-known company’s name, or link to a website that only looks like it belongs to a hotel brand or airline”, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
Hitting the road for a relaxing trip away from home, fraudsters are looking for you, too. Don’t fall for fake text messages about phony tolls that must be paid immediately. Don’t use a number in a suspicious, pushy text. Go to a state’s toll agency and check the information there.
