Mark your calendars for the upcoming “Fall Festival, A Night in the Park.” The entertainment event will be in the beautifully landscaped Johnny Carson Park on South Bob Hope Drive, between Parkside Avenue and Warner Boulevard. The date is Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The free event includes a live concert, food trucks, art vendors, and a showing of the classic movie, “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”, celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary. The fun begins at 4pm. More details here. It’s all sponsored by the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the Valley Cultural Foundation and the Burbank Cultural Arts Commission.
Johnny Carson Park was dedicated to the iconic host of the NBC “Tonight Show” on April 29, 1992. A plaque in the park says the tribute to Carson for “30 years of keeping America up late and laughing.” Carson’s “Tonight Show” set the standards and format for late night talk shows. Carson retired from show business on May 22, 1992. In January of 2005, Carson died of respiratory failure at his home in Malibu, California.
