Murder suspect Kyle Lombardo’s next court appearance is on August 13. Last month, Lombardo, 25, was arrested in connection with the death of his mother.
Burbank police and paramedics were called to a home in the 800 Block of North Avon Street on May 7. They found Karyn Lombardo, 57, unconscious. Efforts to revive the Burbank teacher failed. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A short time later, her adult son, who lived in the home, was taken into custody.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner lists on its website the cause of death as a brain bleed, the result of blunt force head trauma.
In a statement, BUSD Superintendent John Paramo says Lombardo’s stellar career with the district began as a bilingual teacher in 1990. “Her dedication, warmth, and passion for teaching touched many students and colleagues’ lives. Her profound impact and loss on this community will be deeply felt throughout the City of Burbank. ”
During his arraignment last Monday, June 3, in a Pasadena courtroom, the suspect pleaded not guilty to one count of murder. Kyle Lombardo remains in jail on 2 million dollars bail. He is set to return to court on August 13, 2024, for a preliminary hearing.
