Drunk Driving Crackdown

California is stepping up its crackdown on drunk drivers. On Friday, December 12, It involves a multi-million-dollar grant. Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the grant to improve toxicology testing for alleged drug-impaired drivers throughout the state.
Who Got the Grant
The grant is from the California Office of Traffic Safety. It will be going to the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Forensic Services.
The much-needed funds will help analyze blood and urine samples.
“I am very proud of the important work carried out by our Bureau of Forensic Services. This ongoing work will be bolstered thanks to a $3 million grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety”, said Attorney General Bonta in a press release. “As a part of its critical work, our Bureau of Forensic Services provides high-quality and affordable forensic toxicology services to counties all over California that do not have their own laboratories. The California Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that no matter where you live in California, everyone has equal access to forensic services in the justice system.”
When called upon, the Bureau of Forensic Services also testifies about its findings. The bureau routinely provides evidence in state and federal courts during criminal trials.
