Burbank School Board candidate, Steve Ferguson, has picked up a major endorsement. His campaign sent out a news release today announcing the endorsement of the Burbank Teachers Association. In the release, BTA President ,Lori Adams, is quoted as saying: “Steve has been very involved in many areas of city government in Burbank and will bring new ideas and energy to the board. Steve will listen to all members of the community and ultimately will do what is right for our students.”
The BTA represents teachers, counselors, school nurses, librarians, and speech therapists. The association website claims it has around 793 members. In response to the BTA endorsement, Ferguson is quoted in the release this way:”Having the support of Burbank’s teachers demonstrates the continued strength of this community-based campaign. I’ve worked with our teachers before to deliver the best for our students and I look forward to doing it again.”
Also, Ferguson has received the endorsements of a number of community leaders including former mayors, Mary Lou Howard and Marsha Ramos, City Council Member Dr. David Gordon, Police Commission Chairperson Elise Stearns-Niesen, and School Board Member Dr. Roberta Reynold. Involved in public service since the age of 11, Ferguson, 23, has served on 18 civic and non-profit boards. More on his civic resume and goals on his campaign website.
City Council candidate Bob Frutos has a new campaign video out. In it Frutos talks about important issues and his objectives. Bob Frutos, a veteran Los Angeles police officer, is making a second run for city council after losing a tight race by less than 100 votes in 2011 to Emily Gabel-Luddy.
