Los Angeles County Health Officials are warning the public about a person who was infected with Measles while visiting a popular entertainment amusement park in Universal City. The case was investigated recently by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
The investigation concluded the infected person was at Universal Studios Hollywood Sunday, July 26, 2026, for several hours– from 10 am until 9 pm. Officials say people at the park during that period risk being exposed to the highly contagious illness. Unprotected people could develop measles 7 to 21 days after exposure.
If you were at the park during those critical hours, you are urged to monitor yourself for symptoms like a fever, cough, runny nose, a rash, and red and watery eyes. You are advised to stay at home and call a health care provider immediately if you become ill.
“Measles spreads easily and can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia, brain swelling, and even death. With summer travel underway, the risk of exposure to infectious diseases may increase. We urge everyone to confirm their immunity and get the MMR vaccine if needed, especially before traveling and attending crowded events. Taking this simple step helps safeguard your health and strengthens protection for our entire community,” said Muntu Davis, MD, MPH, Los Angeles County Health Officer, in a news release.
There has been a surge in measles cases in the US this year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That agency says as of August 6, 2026, 2,465 cases have been reported. That is more than all of the confirmed measles cases in the US last year.
