President Donald Trump is losing ground with voters, according to a new Emerson College poll. The national survey found Trump’s job approval rating has dropped to 41%, a four-point decline since October. The president’s job disapproval performance is up slightly from 48% to 49%. The decrease is quite significant among certain voting blocks. Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, says. “Since his inauguration, Trump has lost support among key groups: Republican voters’ approval decreased 12 points from 91% to 79%, and his disapproval intensified among independent voters, from 44% to 51%, and Hispanics, from 39% to 54%.”
Meanwhile, 71% Democrats say they are motivated to vote in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, compared to 60% of Republicans and 42% of Independents. When those voters were asked about the most important issue facing the country, 75% picked the economy, 61% selected the threat to democracy, and 59% chose immigration.
The survey was taken the first week of this month.
