Today is the 25th anniversary of the federal holiday honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The first MLK Day was observed in 1986. Dr. King was fatally wounded by an assassin’s bullet on a balcony in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968.
