Lottery/Powerball—

The Powerball jackpot is huge!. It is now at least $302 million. The last time the jackpot for this game happened was more than a month ago, on May 2. That night, two players, one in Texas and another in Florida, split a $20 million prize. Powderball is played in 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
One Powerball ticket bought for last Wednesday’s draw did collect a hefty consolation prize. That ticket had all the winning numbers except the Powerball. It is worth $562,408, according to the California Lottery. That lucky ticket was purchased in Northern California at a Chevron gas station at 8296 Laguna Blvd in Elk Grove, 15 miles south of downtown Sacramento. Here are the June 17 winning numbers: 3, 26, 49, 53, 61, and the Powerball 12.
On November 7, 2022, the largest Powerball jackpot ever was hit in the Golden State. The record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball ticket was sold in Altadena. The sole winner, Edwin Castro, opted for a one-time, lump-sum payout of $997.6 million. After federal taxes, he reportedly banked approximately $628.5 million.
Part of the California Lottery’s mission is to raise funds for public education. So that record Powerball prize also contributed a historic $156 million to the state’s public school system.
The next Powerball draw is tonight.
