Tabebuia trees have been in glorious bloom this month here in Burbank. My favorite is the one known as the Lavender Trumpet Tree. Bloom color varies from pale pink to purple and lavender. The fact that the tree blooms so beautifully in winter is a true delight.

Burbank residents were able to watch the 2015 city council candidates express their views at a forum last Wednesday, January 28. The candidates for city council and school board participated in two forums last Tuesday, January 20, in the city council chambers at Burbank City Hall. Work began on replacing the turf at the Burbank High School football field this week. Apparently, when the turf began to wear out sooner than it should have the district made a deal with the manufacturer to replace it while under warranty. Photo courtesy Burbank resident Kevin Muldoon.

The newly designed mini park at the Joslyn Adult Center is consider an oasis and for good reason. Traffic rolled down Magnolia Boulevard and the sidewalks were filled with crowds last night for Holiday in the Park. Stores, shops, and eateries stayed open until 9 p.m. Folks shopped, snacked on free popcorn and treats, walked, and enjoyed the entertainment and festive vibe. More photos here.
