DGA/New Contract Ratified—
The last of the big three Hollywood entertainment unions has signed off on a new contract. The Directors Guild of America announced yesterday that its membership had overwhelmingly ratified a new agreement. Earlier this month, DGA President Christopher Nolan said this about the 4-year pact: “We entered this negotiation with three main priorities: secure our Health Plan, protect jobs, and ensure that our members remain secure as AI continues to impact our industry. We succeeded in these areas and gained in many others.”
During the spring, the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA also quickly negotiated 4-year deals with the major studios. On its website, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers gave a shout-out to the unions: “The AMPTP thanks the DGA, WGA, and SAG-AFTRA for their thoughtful and collaborative approach to negotiations. Together, we reached agreements that deliver substantial gains for guild members while supporting greater stability across the entertainment business. We are encouraged by the trust built throughout this cycle and look forward to building on that momentum to advance opportunity and shared success across our industry.”
Looks like these new union contracts were a win-win for everybody. The unions secured the upgrades and improvements they sought. The major studios got four years of stability- no strike disruption. Yeah, a win-win for everybody.
