Election Day: The fate of Measure “S” to be decided

Measure “S” is on the ballot in Burbank today. The measure would give the Burbank Unified School District Board of Education the go-ahead to issue $110 million in bonds for school upgrades and improvements. Independent citizens oversight and annual audits are part of the provisions.  Measure “S” requires a 55% vote for passage.

Target teams up with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to give away millions

The giant retailer, Target, has a deal with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and it could mean thousands for some lucky schools. Target has earmarked $5 million in grants for a slew of elementary and secondary schools recommended by the viewers of  the weekly talk/variety show. Today President Obama honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by picking up a brush and helping paint artsy and inspiring characters in the cafeteria of Stuart Hobson Middle School in Washington, DC.
