Keep that umbrella handy, showers are expected this morning and throughout the afternoon. A weather system is drifting down from up north — bringing rain, cloudy skies, and cool temperatures. The high today is expected to reach only the mid-60s. The storm may clear out by Sunday — but expect more cloudy skies and chilly temps. In truth Southland […]

Now’s the time to get those winter veggies ready to start! I have people coming in wanting to buy pepper and tomato seeds and I immediately show them what they should be planting now. Here in SoCal we have mild enough”winters” to start our cool season seeds this early. Green and root vegetables will do fine in our winters. Here […]

This photo is making the rounds on cellphones and the Internet. These folks really got an eye full when Endeavour, setting on top of that Boeing 747, flew by. An incredible photo. A priceless memory.

After a grand tour of the Golden State, Endeavour is spending its first night in the Southland. Yesterday, the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft gave Endeavour a piggyback ride from Houston to Edwards Air Force Base in the high desert. Shortly after eight this morning, the modified Boeing 747 airliner took to the skies again with the proud orbiter mounted on its […]

Another scorcher in the Media City. The temperature leaped the 100 degree mark early this afternoon. At 2 p.m. it was 102! The humidity is down — we’re back to the traditional dry heat of a Southland summer. A hot weekend is ahead for Burbank — so be sure to wear protection when you’re outside: a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

I don’t know where this long stretch of hot and humid weather is coming from, but I sure wish it would go back. I have lost count of the number of days this miserable weather has blanketed Burbank. Hot and dry — we’re use to that — but this sticky, stuffy air is more like the East Coast than the […]

No one scored the big one in last Friday’s Mega Millions draw, which pumped up the jackpot to $93 million. The draw was not a total washout for two lucky ticket holders in the Southland. Today one winner, Rafael Carmona, dropped by the California Lottery’s Van Nuys office with a ticket holding all the winning numbers from the August 31 […]

A relentless heat wave continues to bake Burbank and the rest of the Southland. A hot air mass is hovering over the region. An excessive heat warning went into effect this morning through late evening for portions of the valleys and mountains in So Cal. Yesterday the high hit 100 again in B-town and we can expected it to be […]
