Target teams up with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to give away millions

The giant retailer, Target, has a deal with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and it could mean thousands for some lucky schools. Target has earmarked $5 million in grants for a slew of elementary and secondary schools recommended by the viewers of  the weekly talk/variety show. 2011 Emmy nominations revealed today

Once again HBO is king of the Emmy nominations. The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced today and the pay channel topped the list with 104 — leaving the rest of the networks far behind.  The cabler’s miniseries, “Mildred Pierce,”  a remake of the 1940s classic, scored the most nominations with 21. Peter Falk 1927 — 2011

Peter Falk, who became a television icon playing the disheveled, quirky, but brilliant  detective, Lieutenant Columbo, died today at the age of 83. Falk’s acting career span 50 years and included two Oscar nominations. The Los Angeles Times has photos and a couple of nice  pieces about Falk on its site.

Oprah’s 25th year finale a ratings winner

 “The Oprah Winfrey Show”  finale was huge — in true Oprah style. On Wednesday, Oprah’s talk show wrapped up 25 years with a tribute to her fans, who stuck with her year after year.
