Art show inspires and delights at Geo Gallery

Guests got a real treat last Saturday, March 12, at the Geo Gallery 1545 Victory Boulevard, in Glendale. A selection of watercolors, by two talented artists in love with color and detail, were on display at an art show and opening reception hosted by Ex-Burbank Mayor/City Council Member, Marsha Ramos. Among those stopping by to browse and chat, Burbank City Council […]

Mega Millions jackpot skyrockets to $172 million

Will the Mega Millions jackpot reach $200 million? It’s heading in that direction. No one matched all of the winning numbers in last night’s game, so more greenbacks got stuffed into the jackpot, which now stands at $172 million! Burbank campaign news: Emily Gabel-Luddy speaks out on endorsements and some issues

It’s not over for Burbank City Council candidates Bob Frutos and Emily Gabel-Luddy. They’re locked in a run-off for a seat on the city council. Community Views: Burbank sidewalk debate

The great sidewalk debate involves more than concrete. For me this issue involves the ethical treatment of people. The majority of residents on Screenland opposed the installation of sidewalks in their neighborhood but for their efforts they were much maligned as selfish people who didn’t care about the safety of children and wouldn’t accept change. The safety of children is […]

Mega Millions jackpot soars to at least $151 million!

Like gas prices  — the Mega Millions lottery jackpot just keeps going higher and higher. Today that money pot grew to at least $151 million, after no one got all of the winning numbers right in yesterday’s game. The hot digits: 3, 17, 19, 41, 55, and the Mega Ball 24. One ticket bought in the Golden State had all […]

Showdown over the Burbank sidewalk controversy

UPDATED 10:30 p.m. :  Despite protests from some residents on North Screenland Drive tonight, the Burbank City Council voted 4-to-1 in favor of the sidewalks. The only “no” vote came from Councilman Dr. David Gordon. The students at Luther Burbank Middle school in Burbank and their safety have become the debating points in the bitter controversy over the installation of sidewalks on nearby […]

Gas prices on a roll — we feel the pain in Burbank

Gasoline prices are going up fast. About a week ago, I paid $3.79 per gallon for regular. Today, at the same station I shelled out $3.97 for each gallon of regular I pumped into the P.T. Cruiser. I’m starting to take note of where I see the cheapest gas.  At these prices, checking around for the best deal before you buy is worth it. […]
