Crime Alert: Auto burglaries in Burbank

In Burbank, auto burglaries have become more than a nuisance. The problem is starting to tarnish the city’s already battered reputation. Not only are the locals talking about “all those auto burglaries,” but so are folks who come into the Media City for entertainment or to work. A friend of mine who lives in Pasadena, sometimes drives to town to see a movie at the AMC. She […]

Wind, clouds, sunshine, and maybe rain this weekend

So much for this morning’s raking of the leaves. When I looked outside around noon, my Burbank yard was covered with leaves from the Mulberry, Magnolia, and other trees — thanks to some strong winds whipping through the hillside area. Sure the sun is still out, but that may not be the case for long. There’s a chance of rain through […]

A scorcher in November

A blazing hot day on tap for the Media city today. At 10 a.m., it’s already 80 degrees in Burbank. The weather forecast is for a high in the mid-to-upper 90s!  Yes, we’re deep off into fall, but we’re getting another reminder of what a gorgeous summer day feels like in the Southland. I was out before nine this morning and saw a […]

A wet start to the Halloween weekend

We got some rain early this morning in Burbank and could get more before the day is done. So keep that umbrella nearby. The weather forecast is for cool temperatures in the 60s and overcast skies with some occasional sunshine.   The rain should be gone by tomorrow. The weather watchers are predicting sunny and dry conditions on Halloween in the Media City and the rest of […]

Burbank haunted house makes a killing before Halloween

This is the big weekend for Halloween haunted houses. As I mentioned earlier, last Saturday I attended the opening of “Nightmare at the Museum,”  a delightfully ghoulish experience at 907 North California Street. A skilled crew of professionals and volunteers worked for weeks to construct this scary haunt. “Nightmare at the Museum” was open for visitors both Saturday and Sunday last weekend and made a […]

Sunny, windy, and warm in Burbank today

Dress in layers, caused it could get into the mid-80s today.  At 9 a.m. the temperature in the Media City lingered on the chilly side — upper 50s. Nevertheless, the weather forecast is for at least 80 and perhaps a bit warmer with plenty of sunshine. Also, those gusty winds are expected to kick up again today. There is a wind […]
