Burbank Mega Millions winner steps forward

The lucky Mega Millions winner who bought his ticket at the Chevron Station at Olive Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, has claimed his winnings. Lottery officials say Keung Man cashed in his ticket worth $755, 147 earlier this week. Man’s ticket had all the right numbers, except the Mega Ball in Double-M last Friday’s draw. Feeling lucky? The next Mega Millions […]

Burbank Chevron manager sells lottery ticket worth more than a half million dollars

Today I walked into the food mart at the Chevron station, 100 South Glenoaks Boulevard across from the Burbank Central Library, and found manager Javed Khandaker behind the counter. I asked about that winning Mega Millions lottery ticket, which won $755, 147 in last Friday’s draw. Khandaker smiled broadly and proudly said,”I sold it.” He says it’s the first time […]

Someone bought a big money lottery ticket in Burbank!

Some lucky Mega Millions lottery ticket holder is probably having a slamming jamming “I’m rolling in the dough” Memorial Day weekend, after matching all but the Mega Ball in yesterday’s draw. Mother’s Day: Enjoy the wildflowers, but watch out for rattlesnakes!

The wildflowers are breaking out in gorgeous colors in the Verdugo Hills of Wildwood Canyon Park here in Burbank. Freelance photographer Terje “Terry” Canavarro shot these photos yesterday afternoon along the trail in Wildwood Canyon Park. After the low clouds and morning fog burn off, it’s going to be sunny and warm on this Mother’s Day. The high is expected […]

Power and prejudice: Burbank City Council elects new mayor

I watched the reorganization meeting of the Burbank City Council on the city website this morning. I spoke later with someone who had been in the city council chambers during that all important meeting and we both agreed it was unusually quick and somber, but with one major surprise. Vice-Mayor Dave Golonski getting the votes to move up to mayor, […]
